Community AM with transmitter real estate in southern Connecticut
Viable stand-alone signals are in short supply in the Nutmeg State, but here’s an exception.
WQUN, Hamden, CT is a 1,000-watt day/305-watt night two-tower directional AM serving a rich swath of suburban Connecticut centered on the communities of Hamden (60,000+) and North Haven (24,000+) with additional coverage from New Haven up to Wallingford along the I-91 corridor.
Current owner Quinnipiac University plans to discontinue its broadcast operations by June 2018 but seeks a buyer to take over the WQUN transmitter facility and continue AM service to the region.
Offering includes license, main BE transmitter and RCA auxiliary transmitter, phasor, and transmitter building and property on Denslow Hill Road in Hamden. Two-story building is a former studio/office facility with possibility of renovation and reuse.
This is a unique and fast-moving opportunity to introduce a new service to an area with vibrant ethnic communities and strong listener loyalty, and to continue WQUN’s two-decade tradition of local service to its region.
